Track: National records for Knights and Tamagno at Brooks PR Invitational
Orange County distance standouts Bethan Knights and Austin Tamagno both set national records Saturday at the 2014 Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle, Washington. Knights, the recently graduated standout from Northwood, overcame a rare final lap deficit with an impressive late surge and clocked a winning time of 9:53.54. The time is the fastest ever in a full two mile race by a female high school runner, breaking the previous record of 9:54.22 set at the 2011 New Balance Outdoor Nationals by Aisling Cuffe of Cornwall Central High in New York. Junior-to-be Hannah DeBalsi of Staples High in Connecticut, who took the lead from Knights during the final lap, finished second in a time of 9:55.05. Read the full article at: ocsidelines.com
